Ski holiday, Snowy Mountains

Ski holiday Snowy Mountains
If you are a skiing enthusiast there are several resorts that are accessible from Sydney. Quite often visitors from overseas are very surprised to see that it snows in Australia, so it’s a well kept secret! Our ski season is the opposite to the northern hemisphere it Starts in mid June and ends in September Whether you enjoy skiing, Snowboarding, the après ski or simply love the stunning scenery of the mountains, there are a number of resorts for you to choose from. Perisher Blue, Thredbo, Perisher Valley ,Smiggens Hole, Jinabyne There are several ways to get there from Sydney, you can travel by Train ,you can self drive, catch a Coach or even fly !

All New South Wales alpine resorts are within Kosciuszko National Park

Thredbo
An established ski Resort, Thredbo is an excellent resort with good facilities for beginners and intermediates with a true European feel there is limited ski in ski out accommodation at Thredbo, but from most hotels or apartments a few minutes walk will get you to the snow. The ski school has superb instructors and the Thredbo club card is great value. You will have access to many great facilities in Thredbo including, ski school, child care, ski and snowboard hire and repair, leisure centre with a pool, gym, medical centre, nightclubs, bars , restaurants, bottle shops and lots more besides. In Thredbo there is something to do day and night.

Perisher Blue
An excellent Ski holiday from Sydney would be in the resort of Perisher Blue Located in the Kosciusko National Park it’s a six hour Drive from Sydney, or you can catch a coach transfer from the airport, a family friendly resort that caters for skiers of all abilities. The facilities are excellent and are a favourite among locals keen to get some fresh air this is place to visit. Perisher Blue is spread over 7 peaks with 1245 hectares of skiable terrain so you can always find an uncrowded area.

Selwyn Snowfields
Selwyn Snowfields describe them selves as A Winter Playground There is a strong family presence in the resort and you just can't help but feel at home here. Selwyn Snowfields has the best beginners skiing in NSW with a wide range slopes to choose from and a great fun toboggan run & tubing park - with their own lifts. The only downside to Selwyn Snowfields is that you need to there drive in each day as there is no “on snow” accommodation. it takes Approximately 30 minutes. Depending on your accommodation choice
If you consider yourself an advanced skier then maybe this resort isn’t for you, but even if you are an intermediate level skier, Selwyn Snowfields offer you enough choice to keep you happy for a few days, snowmaking machines are in use, which has made the cover a lot more reliable. Selwyn can open on low snow levels and you can expect them to operate most of the resort for the ski season.

Ski Resorts based in Australia are facing ever increasing competition from each other and other areas of the world. It’s always worth shopping around for a Ski holiday from Sydney as there are some great deals available.
